“Nollaig na mBan" or “Little Women’s Christmas" is an old custom that’s still celebrated by women all over Ireland. It goes back to the days when large families were the norm. Men never lifted a finger in the house to help, and were never expected to. If a man washed the dishes, he would be called an “auld woman" by other men. No full blooded Irish man was prepared to risk that!

But each year, after the Christmas holiday, tired women finally got a break – for one day, at least. On January 6th, men would take over of the housework, offering women a chance to go out to relax with each other.

Since we're an equal opportunities club and all that, we wouldn't dream of leaving the lads out! So everyone is invited to Carrolls Gastropub in Lucan for food, drink and banter next Friday 6th January 2017 at 7.30pm. Last year was great craic (thanks to Niall Power & Paul Kerr and the helium balloons!) so let's kick off 2017 as we mean to continue....

Let me know below if you can join us so I can give Carrolls the numbers for the table:

Everyone is very welcome - don't be shy!

Was chatting to Paula earlier and (s)he asked me to put her name down for this. (S)he's wondering what to wear.
