It’s that time of year again to organise one of the best trips on the club calendar – our annual Holly picking trip This year’s trip will take place on Saturday, 8th December with the club Christmas party on later that evening. We’ll be heading to the Liffey, to paddle from Sluice to the club. This invite is directed to all in the AK section, Open boats and whoever else has a suitable boat (and skills cert )and would like to join in.
We’ll meet at 9.30 am at the club house to load boats on to a minimal number of cars traveling up to Sluice. The boat shed doors will be open at 9.30am and close at 9.45am, we will be on the road before 10.00am.
For anyone going directly to the get on, we’ll meet at Sluice car park for 10.10am.
After a leisurely paddle down any of those with time can head down to the straw hall around 3 o’clock for a pre-party shandy and a few laughs.
Club equipment (including wetsuits) is available for all new members who need some. Please post up if you need equipment (first come first served).
Please talk to each other about car-pooling as we get a large attendance for this trip and parking spaces are at a premium.
You should wear as a minimum for this time of year:
1. Adequate base layer thermals (no cotton)
2. Extra fleece/polyester over layers
3. Thermal socks & proper solid footwear
4. Wet suit
5. Dry Cag
6. Paddling gloves or poggies are a great idea and a swimming cap too
Bring a warm drink in a flask and some food in your buoyancy aid for the trip down.
Please post up if you are coming along so we can get an idea of numbers. We hope to have plenty of leaders and rescue cover on this trip so and will try to fit everyone in that wants to come along but do keep an eye on the forum as the day approaches.
Finally, the tradition of seasonal decorating of boats (and paddlers) is long established and will help get everyone into the festive mood so dont let the team down!
Looking forward to seeing you all on the water.
