This years annual October Bank Holiday Trip is confirmed for Westport this year to take advantage of the many amazing rivers on offer in Galway, Mayo and Sligo. The trip is open to all with their L2 certificate that are senior members in the club. Depending on how friendly Mother Nature is we hope to get people out on a wide range of rivers from Grade 2 to Grade 4 depending on each paddlers ability level. Not all the rivers chosen will be suitable for the more recent additions to our community but we will tailor options for everyone over the course of the weekend as always. Details are as follows:
Staying in Croagh Patrick Hostel, just outside Westport in shared private dorms with just WWKC in our own part of the bigger hostel (Friday 26-Mon 29th October). Prices are:
3 night stay = 82.50 per person (plus 3% Stripe fee = 85)
2 nights stay = 60.00 per person (plus 3% Stripe fee =62)
1 nights stay = 35.00 per person (plus 3% Stripe fee = 31)
The above rate includes continental breakfast.
What you need to do is confirm the following if you are coming along:
Name, Level of certificate held, no. of night staying (incl particular nights) and if you need club gear.
The trip does not have any max level at this point but we will need to review this once people sign up to ensure we are covered on the ratio/safety front. We do however only have 14 sets of club gear so those without gear will be provided for on a first come (and paid) first served basis. Club gear is only available to beginners from this year at this point. Once people sign up here now further details will follow next month and full payment will need to be made in advance for accommodation.
Assuming water levels are good this is a river running weekend, more so than a surfing weekend. It is therefore suited to recent L2’s who have been active on continuation courses, rescue courses and club trips since your beginners course. If you haven’t been out since your course and are interested in tagging along then make the effort to get out on club trips between now and end of October.
