So the Canoeing Ireland Club Champs are nearly here … the Canoeing Ireland Club Champs is a two day event on the 16 & 17 April 2016, hosting 7 different competitions over the two days in 3 different nearby locations in Leitrim / Longford – Tarmonbarry, Cloondara & Camlin River. Surfing is a little further away in Strandhill in Sligo.

For those that don’t know – The Club Champs has been designed as an Intervarsity style competition with clubs from all over Ireland taking part in 8 different discipline events. Each discipline will contribute towards each Clubs point total to help decide the 2015 Club Champions.
As the defending 2014 & 2015 Champs in both Junior & Senior we want to hold onto the accolade yet again this year.
As the biggest canoeing & kayaking club in Ireland, Wild Water Kayak Club should definitely be aiming to come first again. But to do this we need as many club members as possible to join in and partake. You don’t have to be super fit (not that many of us are) and you don’t need to be out competing in these disciplines. All that’s really necessary is an interest in helping WWKC come out on top yet again!
The races are open to all levels. The main thing is to compete in as many events as you like and earn points for Wild Water. So even if you’ve never sat in a Slalom boat, then now’s your chance, plus you’ll earn points for WWKC, so bonus all round!
Who can put a price on such a great opportunity to represent WWKC and get us into the history books yet again?
WWKC have agreed to subsidise fees by a whopping 50% for club members who enter and compete for WWKC. This means that entry fees for the weekend will be €15 for adults, €10 for college students and €5 for juniors. The price will be the same whether you’re looking to enter one or 4 (which is realistically the most you can manage!). Club members can compete in as many or as little of these events as they like.
There’s no limit to the amount of people we can enter in any of the disciplines – bar polo (only one team is to take part and this is being looked after by the Polo officer). We can have as many participants as we like after that! It’d be great to see as many people as possible attending this and taking part.
So if you’ve ever even knocked into a slalom pole down at the club then why not try your hand at the real thing … if you’ve noticed the juniors out in the wildwater boats and thought ‘that looks easy’ – then NOW is your chance to prove it!
Once you’ve entered, get in touch with Paul (firstname.lastname@example.org) and he will organise your 50% club champ fee refund.
