One day ladies canoe polo is scheduled for Saturday 23rd March in the Claddagh Basin (opposite Spanish arch) Galway City

The main aims of the day are to(a) play a bit of polo (b) meet and paddle with other women involved in all disciplines of paddlesport. So it is as much about meeting new people as about polo. Whether you are an experienced player or haven’t tried it at all we want to see you come along.

The day will consist of two sessions on the water. First, we will learn how to pass and dribble a polo ball, as well as the basic rules of polo. For the more experienced folk we have a former ladies squad member or two coming down specifically to help improve your skills.

After lunch, we will be forming teams and playing some games!

Schedule for day:

11:00 – Meet and greet,

11:30 – First on the water session,

13:00 – 14:30 – Lunch break,

14:30 – 16:00 – Second on the water session – game time!

If anyone wants to paddle through lunch or after 4, we will do that.

What to bring:

Packed lunch (there are plenty of shops/cafes near the pitches if this suits better), Canoe polo equipment (inclu. size 4 polo ball – if you/your club has it), Neoprene or nylon deck, BA (even if not a polo BA), Personal gear (wetsuit, booties, etc)., Change of gear if possible.
Depending on numbers, we may also do some ball games on land, so wear a pair of shoes you don’t mind running around grass in.
