NO POOL SESSION this weekend - we will be back at pool again on Sat 20th.
FRIDAY - Both Div 4 teams have matches this Friday - remember €30 registration fee payable before you can play. Also Average Joes are duty team from 9.00. Check DCPL website for details.
SATURDAY - Mens U18 and u23 Canoe Polo squad training on Saturday - see separate posting for details. Eric is suggesting all DCPL players should attend. If you're going to attend, you can take boat/gear needed after ALL DCPL matches on Friday are over. Let me know by email if you intend to take gear and any gear taken will have to be returned as early as possible.
SATURDAY - Salmon Leap race is on this Saturday (not Sunday as previously posted) - see separate posting for details. This is the race that Liam McCarthy described to the kids at the pool and we'd encourage as many kids as possible to take part. Let me know if you're interested in attending - parents will need to bring kids to club beforehand to sort out gear and return gear to club after the race. It would help if we knew beforehand who wants to attend - as soon as possible please.
ADVANCE NOTICE : Saturday paddling at club will restart soon for all paddlers with Level 2/Level 2 equivalent - keep an eye here for details

Hi,

Fiachra Crowley (beginner) is very interested in taking part. Fiachra has a wet-suit and am wondering if this is suitable to wear or is there anything else he should wear instead? Is the race on Saturday or Sunday? Salmon Leap web site has it down for Saturday. Many thanks Mick - 086 335 6496

Mick,

You are correct, the race is on Saturday see link;

http://www.canoe.ie/Home/CompetitionNew ... -1502.aspx

Wet suit is probably a bit warm for a race, Depends on Fiachras level and you should probably clear it with his coach, but most people would race in a light cag, a thermal and shorts.

Cheers,

Keith

Tks Keith.

Fiachra (11 yoa) is in this years batch of beginners and hopes to take part in the 'fun race' over a 2km course. I will check with his coach as you suggest. We haven't invested in any gear yet! so maybe there will be a few bits, cag etc, to scavenge for Satuirday?Cheers.

Hi there, 1st posting from Gaire Family.......
Cian would love to attend the 2k race on Saturday but we're tied up til 1pm, Is there a time allotted for this race? If there is gear available could we collect early and meet after pm in Salmon Leap ??

Deirdre. sorry but don't think it is going to work out for you. Meet at club at 9.45 to sort out gear/boats and similar and then head to race - expect race (the event itself) to finish around lunchtime.
Re gear. For beginners- make sure you have warm gear for while you are off water before and after race. There is likely to be a lot of hanging around and it can get cold. Also, make sure you have cag/windproof jacket or similar to keep out cold when on the water.

being the devils advocate here... This is the first time a lot of the juniors will be on the water. Even if the air temperature is warm, the water temperature will be cold. I would hate to see any of the juniors turned away from the sport over a cold water swim... At this level this is a fun event and should be treated that way. Any junior from the beginners group should wear appropiate clothing...which includes a wetsuit.
