Liffey Clean-Up Day Sun. 21st March
ICU in cojunction with Surfrider Europe are organising a clean up day for Sunday 21st March. It has been suggested that WWKC cleans the section from the ICU centre to Palmerstown Weir. This would involve paddlers collecting rubbish from the water and bags etc. snagged on trees. See the ICU website for full details.

Re: Liffey Clean-Up Day Sun. 21st March
For those who may not be around for 21st March 'clean up day' may I suggest that if the club trip is on the Liffey (or any other river) on Saturday 20th that we could all bring a bag along and do our bit...there is a lot of rubbish snagged to trees on the last stretch from Wrens to club..and near the get in at sluice is particularly bad.

We're in a fortunate position here in Ireland that we don't have the same river access problems as many paddlers in the UK have - this kind of initiative can only help us retain those rights.
Great idea Karen, let's make the club trip an alternative day for those that can't make the Sunday. I'm quite sure we can work in some kind of eddy-turn game or something into it too..

I'd say don't try that, It's a very big heavy tree and there would be a strong possibility of either someone getting hurt, or damage been done to the weir if it was not done properly. There are many professionals out there who deal with downed trees and I know it's been looked into.
